What is the best area of the medical field to enter?

I have been in college for the last two years-my major is Elementary Education-I am starting to feel like teaching isn't for me. Great hours and I'd be on the same schedule as my kids, but not good pay at all-at least where I live. Plus some of the schools here just consolidated and a lot of teachers lost their jobs. Anyway, I was thinking about going into the medical field-nursing, surgical tech, respiratory care, etc. Could anyone suggest what the best field might be for me to go into? I would love to hear pros and cons of any field. And does anyone think I should just stick with teaching even though the job outlook is grim in my area?
