Role of engineers in animation technology?

Hi, I have completed BE(ECE) and currently working as a software test engineer. I want to switch my line of work from Software testing to animation tech. I want to know whether it is possible.... and if yes, what should I do.... is ther any masters degree in animation or should I tak up the course in private training centers......... Please help me......
