Is this the flu?

i know i am ignorant; don't har me about it ok? well like 2 weeks ago my dad had like a head cold sort of thing. i thought it was sinuses, but our family doctor gave him meds (i'm almost positive they were antibiotics). he took them for a while, but then i think he said he stopped because they gave him diarrhea. the head stuff went away, but his teeth have been killing him. now yesterday he got a fever and he says his "bones ache". all over, he says. im sure he'll be ok, i just want to kow what is wrong.
