If I was served to go to court for a debt does it have to been in my local courthouse?

I was an owner operator for a tractor and when business went bad i could no longer afford the truck payments and let the company repossess the truck. I live in Orange county, NY and the filed the papers down in Missouri. I have no way financially to be able to go to court down there. Are they legally aloud to take me to court in Missouri? Ive never lived there or even been to Missouri. Is there anyway to get this moved to a courthouse in NY?
