My poor vision is embarring to a breaking point?

I have a vision of -13 something in my left eye because of premature birth retina detachment in my right eye. I feel so embarred because my gles are FREAKING thick. Without my gles everything is very blurry and I can't read anything unless it's pressed up to my face but I can see solid figures fine and can move my way around. I really want contacts instead because people are pestering me nonstop about why I can't do certain things because of my eye or why my gles are so damn thick like an old grandmothers. Is it possible to get contacts at this rate? I know they have separate left and right eye sets? What brand?
