Bleeding for each month didnt have period?

havnt had cycle in four months but spotting during those months on and off. I am bleeding very heavily, is this because i am endometrium lining is just that thick/ and i have build up or what? doctor put me on ERRIN tablets(horomone) had breakthrough(period). Not suppose to happen? should i be concerned?
