Simpson's Game Eating Contest?

I'm stuck on the eating contest. I've cleared Itally and I'm on the San Fransisco Bay Bridge. I can't get through the stars and stripes door. I can see a level on a podium to the right of it, but I can't figue out how to get Bart (i ume) or Homer up there. Best Answer for any additon tips for the rest of the level
